“And the disciples were called Christians first in Antioch” (Acts 11:26).

Christianity is under attack. It has always been and will always be. Why? The answer is found in the Scriptures: “This is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil” (John 3:19).

Singer Linda Ronstadt said in a recent interview that she became nervous when Christians were in the audience. As the Bible says, “Light has come into the world” (John 3:19). Apparently Ms. Ronstadt likes darkness.

In Jesus’ prayer in John 17:1-26, He outlines the Christians’ relationship to the world: First, we have been called out of the world (17:6). Second, we still live in the world (17:11). Third, we are not of the world (17:16). Fourth, we have been sent back into the world (17:18). Jesus taught us in the Sermon on the Mount, “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven” (Matthew 5:16).

Folks, the battle is raging. Paul said, “Finally my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might” (Ephesians 6:10). “And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not” (Galatians 6:9). —Larry Acuff
